ABOUT THE NEW MOON

A new moon occurs when the Moon is positioned between Earth and the Sun, with its illuminated side facing away from Earth. During this phase, the Moon is essentially invisible in the night sky, marking the beginning of a new lunar cycle.

The new moon phase is significant in many cultures and traditions. It's often seen as a time for new beginnings, setting intentions, and starting fresh projects. The lunar cycle from one new moon to the next takes approximately 29.5 days.

After the new moon, a thin crescent becomes visible in the western sky just after sunset, marking the beginning of the waxing phase as the Moon grows toward full illumination.

NEW MOON VISIBILITY

The new moon itself is not visible to the naked eye. However, within a day or two after the new moon, a thin crescent moon becomes visible in the evening sky. This crescent grows larger each night as the Moon waxes toward the first quarter phase.
